Nothing banishes the winter blues like investing in a beautiful and cosy new coat. The right winter coat should work hard for you for at least two years, so don’t stray too far from classic cuts and neutral colours. Having said that, you don’t need to play things too safe. Believe it or not, in 2019 you can treat animal print as a “neutral” since despite being eye-catching it works with every outfit, as do camel and warm red tones. Classic black is chic and timeless – go for a cropped jacket for a really sharp silhouette. And don’t be afraid of a white or cream coat. Sure, you can’t wear it every day, but it’s the ultimate in indulgent winter luxury. Texture is everything, so look to leather, sheepskin and wool for cosy comfort.
