An award-winning East Lothian seafood restaurant has launched its very own version of the traditional afternoon tea with a nautical twist in time for the start of summer.
East Coast Restaurant on Musselburgh’s North High Street has unveiled a new ‘Afternoon Sea’ menu, complete with wee battered haddock, twice cooked chips, homemade mushy peas, house tartare sauce, homemade pickled onions and a wedge of lemon. The new restaurant menu also includes East Coast’s sweet treat of the day and a pot of tea.
Located just two minutes’ walk from Musselburgh beach and Fisherrow Harbour on the outskirts of Edinburgh, East Coast is owned and operated by Carlo and Katia Crolla. The Crolla family has been serving the local community for nearly 50 years. Styles may change, but great flavours, family heritage and warm, friendly service remain as important to Katia and Carlo today as they did half a century ago.
Carlo Crolla, owner of East Coast Restaurant in Musselburgh, said:
“As temperatures start to rise and families begin flocking to the beaches around Edinburgh and the Lothians, we want to offer people even more reason to enjoy our award-winning fish and chips with the launch of our new ‘Afternoon Sea’ menu.
“Served in the comfort of our family-run restaurant, our ‘Afternoon Sea’ menu offers diners a traditional afternoon tea with a nautical twist in time for the start of summer.”
The new ‘Afternoon Sea’ menu is available Friday to Sunday from 2.30pm to 4pm.

East Coast is also home to an award-winning fish & chips takeaway.
