Trends – love them or hate them, they are always around. The secret is to adapt them to suit your lifestyle – if you feel the time is right for change, use the latest ideas to pick and choose what you love, and adapt them to suit your budget and lifestyle. With that in mind, we take a look at the interior styles and ideas gaining ground in 2019.
When it comes to accessories, the cactus looks set to continue its recent rise in popularity – if you don’t like the real thing, go for a print option.

This season’s interiors will ooze warmth, comfort and a sense of retreat. Classic but colder grey tones are making way for warm, earthy neutrals. Dulux’s Colour of the Year 2019 is ‘Spiced Honey’, a warm caramel colour with amber tones, which reinforces that idea of cocoon-like comfort. Think nudes or neutrals if you can’t cope with the idea of beige.

Single jewel tones also work well with warmer neutrals, so don’t be afraid to add in a pop of colour to make your space you own.

If you are a pattern lover, florals are still big news on walls and accessories.
Add texture to paler interiors with soft furnishings and accessories, layering up lighter colours and mixing fabrics to add interest.


Expect to see curves making an appearance in furniture and accessories. Think shapes that embrace – headboards, sofas and armchairs with rounded sides or scalloped edges – the kind of furniture you want to sink into with velvet still topping fabric popularity charts.
