With summer holidays in full swing, a new VisitScotland campaign is urging people across Scotland to support their local tourism industry by enjoying a day out, wherever they are in the country. Whether it’s rain or shine, there are plenty of new places to explore as well as many acclaimed attractions and local favourites. Let us take you on an adventure to ensure you make the most of those summer days.
FIFE DAYS OUT
Pittencrieff Park
Gifted to the people of Dunfermline by Andrew Carnegie, Pittencrieff Park is 76 acres of woodland walks, greenhouses and wildlife in the heart of the town.
Deep Sea World
Based in North Queensferry, this exciting family attraction gives visitors a privileged glimpse into life under the sea. Here you can explore hundreds of incredible species of marine life that make Scotland’s seas and shores their home.
Leven Beach
The seaside town of Leven is blessed with a beautiful sandy beach, backed by a promenade, green open space, and golf course.
R&A World Golf Museum
Recently reopened after an extensive refurbishment, the St Andrews-based museum brings to life the past, present and future of golf.

Beecraigs Country Park
Nestled high in the Bathgate Hills near the historic town of Linlithgow, the park boasts a variety of outdoor experiences from mountain biking to taking a stroll around the park’s loch and waymarked trails for those who want to take things at an easier pace.
Scotch Whisky Experience
Found just a stone’s throw from Edinburgh Castle at the top of the Royal Mile, visitors can take a sensational journey through a replica distillery, before an expert guide imparts the secrets of the whisky regions. Then they can choose their perfect dram and taste it in the world’s largest whisky collection.
The Royal Yacht Britannia
Berthed in Leith, visitors can explore the five decks of the Royal Yacht Britannia which played host to some of the world’s most famous people, and was home for the British Royal Family for over 40 years.
Scottish Seabird Centre
The 5-star visitor centre in North Berwick takes visitors on an exploration of Scotland’s seas through its interactive discovery experience. There are also great views to enjoy from the Seabird Café and seasonal boat trips to view local sealife.
National Mining Museum Scotland
A 5-star visitor attraction set in the restored Lady Victoria Colliery in Newtongrange that tells the story of coal for Scotland through exhibitions and tours of the pithead, offering an insight into life for local miners and their families.

SCOTTISH BORDERS DAYS OUT
Traquair House and Brewery, Innerleithen
Traquair House was built as a royal hunting lodge, spans thousands of years of Scottish history and has seen visits from many kings and queens of Scotland. In addition to the house, there is a maze and adventure playground to explore within the grounds, as well as the award-winning brewery.
Abbotsford House, Melrose
Abbotsford is the ancestral home of Sir Walter Scott, the 19th century novelist and poet. 2021 marks the 250th anniversary of his birth, with celebrations taking place throughout this year and next to mark the milestone. One of the most famous houses in the world, with a world-class collection of arms on display as well as free exhibitions, visitor centre, gift shop and extensive grounds.

GLASGOW DAYS OUT
Glasgow Cathedral
This medieval cathedral is thought to have been built on the site of St Kentigern’s tomb and marks the birthplace of the city of Glasgow.
Glasgow Science Centre
It has lots of activities to keep visitors of all ages entertained including interactive exhibits, activities and planetarium.
Riverside Museum
