The 9-month course attracts aspiring furniture makers from across the globe and has gained international fame as a training ground for exceptional woodworkers. Providing students with the essential skills and knowledge to successfully establish and run their own furniture making businesses, the Professional Course covers everything from design techniques to marketing strategies.
This year’s course boasts 27 talented students from the UK, Ireland, India, Italy, Germany, Columbia, Chile and Switzerland. Among the exhibiting students is Molly Johnson, who joined the course after an 8-year career as a Fashion & Home Stylist in the USA. The founder of Oddball Studio, Molly’s designs typically include powerful patterns, feel-good textures, and bold colours, making for playful yet striking pieces.

Also on the course is Daniel Smith, a Scottish comedian who left the comedy circuit to pursue a career in woodworking. Despite his lack of prior experience, Daniel will be displaying an impressive collection of work that exhibits his immense craftsmanship and skill.

Tom Fraser, Principal, said of the 2022 Exhibition:
“We are delighted to announce that our annual Graduate Exhibition and Fine Furniture Sale is returning for its 37th year in June.
As always, the event will celebrate the craftsmanship and skill of our graduating students, with a showcase and sale of their outstanding fine furniture designs. It is a momentous occasion for our graduates as they begin the next chapter of their woodworking career.
“As well as our in-person event, we will hold a virtual showcase so that people from around the world can enjoy the exceptional work produced by our graduate furniture makers via the school’s online portals.”
